Once a DVR participant, the services help individuals identify vocational goals based on their interests, values and abilities. The goal is for the individual to develop work skills to become “competitively” employable. Once an individual is ready for competitive employment, Bayaud staff assists them to find, secure, and maintain meaningful employment. Participants also learn how earned income may affect their benefits and can then plan accordingly.

services for eligible participants include. . .

  • Vocational Evaluation: Series of assessments to help participants determine abilities, work interests and work goals.
  • Situational Assessment: Assessment of work behaviors and job-related skills to establish work preparedness goals.
  • Work Adjustment Training: Temporary jobs to help adjust behaviors and develop compensatory skills in vocational areas such as Mobility, Communication, Self-Care, Self-Direction, Work Tolerance and Work Skills.
  • Computer/Office Skills Training: Individualized computer and clerical skill training.
  • Benefits Counseling: Support to understand how work will affect a participant’s benefits.
  • Placement: Support in preparing for and securing a job. This can include resume development, mock interviews, job application support, etc.
  • Information and Referral: Provide navigation support to participants to connect them to other resources that may affect one’s employment such as legal services, public assistance application, childcare and transportation.
